Hello, I'm Jeannie and I started COTB. I spent many years programming industrial machines and business software.  When I decided to do something more artistically pleasing, I discovered the awful truth about buttons today.  

Being disappointed with the sustainable button options out there, I studied hard to develop scalable, sustainable processes, and this is what I believe we have achieved:

1. WE BUILD THE LEAST TOXIC, LOWEST CARBON, AND MOST AFFORDABLE SUSTAINABLE BUTTONS
2. OUR BUTTONS ARE HARMLESS TO THE ENVIRONMENT, PEOPLE, ANIMALS AND SEA LIFE
3. THEY ALLOW YOU TO LAUNDER YOUR CLOTHES WITHOUT FEAR OF DAMAGING YOUR BUTTONS

• We start with proximal domestic trees known for their outstanding carbon negative cycles and high oxygen output
• We remove any irritants from the wood (Ex: aromatic Cedar)
• We will not use trees containing toxins that we cannot remove (Ex: Walnut)
• We often start by burning the surfaces of the wood
• Burning seals the wood, delays the release of carbon, and enables unique designs
• We use both powerless and low wattage tools run on Atlanta's electrical grid
• We apply non-aerosol, non-toxic tints and sealants

We put our hearts, spirits and hands into creating safe, beautiful garments to live in and enjoy.
